THE STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS (BUTE CRESCENT, BUTETOWN, CARDIFF) ORDER 200

Notice is hereby given that the Minister for Environment acting on behalf of the National Assembly for Wales, proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 to authorise the stopping-up of the section of highway described in Schedule 1 to this notice.
If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable development consisting of the building of apartments, retail premises and a restaurant, to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted by Cardiff County Council, on 25 November 2002, under Ref 01/02563/C. The Order also provides for the new highway described in Schedule 2 to this notice to become a highway maintainable at the public expense for which Cardiff County Council are to be the highway authority. The Order will cease to have effect upon any ceassation of the planning permission.
During the 28 days from 7 March 2003, copies of the draft Order and the deposited plan may be inspected, free of charge, at Cardiff County Council, County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff CF10 4GW, during normal office hours or may be obtained, free of charge, from the address below quoting the Welsh Assembly Government reference.
Within the above-mentioned period of 28 days, any person may, by notice to the Welsh Assembly Government, Transport Directorate, RA3, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ, (quoting Ref CZ510-5-71-53), object to the making of the Order. In the preparation of an objection, it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.

Description of the section of highway to be stopped up under this Order

An irregularly shaped area of highway known as Bute Crescent extending from its junction with Bute Place (James Street) in a southerly direction for a maximum distance of 42 metres and having a maximum width of 28 metres and a total area of 500 square metres and shown by zebra hatching on the deposited plan.

Description of the length of new highway to be provided

An irregularly shaped area of new highway extending in an easterly direction from a point on New George Street for a distance of 46 metres, and having a maximum width of 17 metres and total area of 280 square metres and shown by stipple marking on the deposited plan.
