Environment Agency

Take notice that Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water plc, of George Jessel House, Francis Avenue, Bournemouth, Dorset BH11 8NB, is applying to the Environment Agency to vary licence serial number 13/43/037/S/029, which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Stour at National Grid Reference SZ 063 973 at Longham in Dorset. The variation being applied for is to transfer 12,500 cubic metres per day (365 days a year) in licensed abstraction downstream from Stanbridge Mill on the River Allen to the River Stour at Longham, for the purpose of reducing the problems associated with low flows on the River Allen and securing environmental benefits. This entails increasing the licensed abstraction at Longham by 12,500 cubic metres per day (365 days a year) in return for a commensurate reduction in the licensed abstraction at Stanbridge. The varied licence at Longham will also include additional environmental protection conditions as well as providing for abstraction at a new intake (National Grid Reference SZ 0629 9735). The use of the water will continue to be for public water supply. A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, between the hours of 9.00 am and 4.00 pm from Monday to Friday at George Jessel House, Francis Avenue, Bournemouth BH11 8NB, between 4 March 2003 and 31 March 2003. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, fao S Greenfield, Manley House, Kestrel Way, Exeter, Devon EX2 7LQ, before the end of the said period, quoting the name of the applicant. On behalf of Bournemouth & West Hampshire Water plc 4 March 2003.
