ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE M62 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 33, FERRYBRIDGE) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport intends to make an Order on the M62 Motorway in the district of Wakefield to enable construction of the new Longbull Hill Bridge to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to commence on Friday 28 March 2003. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all traffic (except vehicles to be used in connection with the said works) from the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the M62 at Ferrybridge from approximately 320 metres west of the centre of the A1 overbridge to approximately 70 metres west of the centre of Knottingley Road overbridge. When either carriageway is closed traffic will at times be diverted onto the opposite carriageway using a contraflow system, and at times be diverted onto temporary carriageways to be constructed alongside the existing carriageways. The hardshoulders will also be used for traffic. A mandatory 50 mph speed restriction will be in force throughout the works and vehicles wider than 6 feet 6 inches will be restricted to specific lanes. Traffic management will be in operation 24 hours a day, and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency services vehicles).
