THE A36 TRUNK ROAD (SKEW BRIDGE IMPROVEMENT, SALISBURY) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER (OD NO 62) 2003

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers under the above-mentioned Acts, has made a Compulsory Purchase Order, entitled as above, authorising him to purchase compulsorily the land and the rights briefly described in the Schedule below. The land and the new rights referred to in the above paragraph are to be purchased compulsorily for the following purposes: (a) the improvement of Skew Bridge and the A36 Wilton Road (a Trunk Road) carried by the bridge over the Waterloo to Exeter railway together with the approaches to the bridge on the A36 Wilton Road, Bemerton in the district of Salisbury in the county of Wiltshire; (b) the construction of a cycle track to replace a length of Brick Lane to be stopped up and the improvement of a part of Brick Lane in the vicinity of the route of the above-mentioned A36 Wilton Road in pursuance of the A36 Trunk Road (Skew Bridge Improvement, Salisbury) (Side Roads) Order 2003; and (c) use by the Secretary of State in connection with the improvement and construction of highways as aforesaid. Copies of the made Compulsory Purchase Order and of the plans referred to therein, have been deposited and may be seen during normal opening hours from 5 March 2003 to 16 April 2003, at the offices of: Highways Agency, Room 2/07K, Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol BS1 6HA; Wiltshire County Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge, Wiltshire BA14 8JN; Salisbury District Council, Bourne Hill, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP1 5UZ; and Salisbury Library, Market Place, Salisbury, Wiltshire SP1 1BL. Any person aggrieved by an Order mentioned in this notice and who wishes to question its validity, or the validity of any provision in it, on the grounds that: (a) it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, or (b) any requirement of that Act or of regulations made under that Act has not been complied with in relation to that Order, may apply to the High Court within 6 weeks from the date of publication of this notice. On such application, the Court may suspend or quash that Order or any provision in it. S Self, Project Sponsor, Highways Agency Schedule In Bemerton in the District of Salisbury 1. Railway land immediately adjacent to both sides of Skew Bridge, Bemerton, Salisbury owned by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd. 2. The right of access onto railway land or land adjacent thereto for all purposes in connection with the improvement and maintenance of Skew Bridge and its approaches. 3. Scrub land to the north-west side of Skew Bridge along Wilton Road (approximately 120 metres) owned by Wilton Estate. 4. Public Open Space land to the north-east of Skew Bridge owned by Salisbury District Council. 5. Land to the north-east of Skew Bridge, to the east of the Public Open Space, currently comprising part of the wide verge and footway at the junction of Roman Road and Wilton Road owned by Salisbury District Council. 6. Scrub land to the south-east of Skew Bridge, approximately opposite Roman Road at its junction with Wilton Road, owned by the Secretary of State for Transport. 7. The right to construct and maintain a retaining wall on land comprising the northern end of the gardens of properties at numbers 1 to 15 St Andrew’s Road. 8. Land comprising Brick Lane from a point to the rear of 37 St Andrew’s Road to its junction with Wilton Road. 9. About 50 square metres of land comprising part of operational railway land to the south of Skew Bridge. 5 March 2003.
