FORMAL DESIGNATION AND REVOCATION OF DISABLED PERSONS’ PARKING PLACES

1.  Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lambeth, on 18 February 2003, made the Lambeth (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (No 1) Order 2003, under sections 6 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into force on the 4 March 2003.
2.  In brief, the general nature and effect of the Order will be:

(a) to designate disabled persons’ parking places on the streets specified in the Schedule to this notice (this will legally formalise certain disabled persons’ parking places, which are currently provided informally); and
(b) to revoke the disabled persons’ parking places situated in Elms Crescent (outside No 88) and in Romola Road (outside No 4).

3.  The parking places referred to in paragraph 2(a) above will operate at any time and will be available for use only by vehicles which display in the relevant position a valid disabled persons’ “orange badge” or “blue badge” issued by a local authority.

5  Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection until the last day of a period of 6 weeks beginning with the date on which the Order is made, at the offices of the Transport and Highways Group, 3rd Floor, Blue Star House, 234-244 Stockwell Road, Brixton, London SW9 9SP, Monday to Friday during normal office hours.
6.  If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any Instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
