THE NEWHAM (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) (NO  ) TRAFFIC ORDER 200
SILVERTOWN WAY CRASH REMEDIAL SCHEME

1. Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Newham propose to make the above-mentioned Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985.
2. The general effect of the Order, which has been designed in conjunction with proposed new traffic signals at the junction of Silvertown Way and George Street, would be to:

(a) prohibit vehicles proceeding in that length of Peto Street North, which lies between its junction with Silvertown Way and the northern kerbline of Willan Wall, other than in a direction of south-east to north-west;
(b) prohibit vehicles proceeding in that length of Caxton Street North, which lies between the south-eastern kerbline of George Street and the north-western kerbline of Hoy Street, other than in a direction of north-west to south-east;
(c) prohibit vehicles proceeding in the service road which lies between the western kerbline of Silvertown Way and the northern kerbline of the western carriageway of George Street other than in a southerly direction;
(d) prohibit vehicles proceeding in the western carriageway of George Street from thereupon entering the service road which lies between the western kerbline of Silvertown Way and the northern kerbline of the western carriageway of George Street;
(e) introduce compulsory left turns for vehicular traffic from:

(i) Hoy Street into Caxton Street North;
(ii) Brunel Street into Silvertown Way;
(iii) Hallsville Road into Silvertown Way; and
(iv) Victoria Dock Road into Silvertown Way.

3. A copy of the proposed Order, and of other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order, can be inspected until 6 weeks from the date on which the Order is made or until the proposals are withdrawn, as appropriate, during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the offices of the Director of Environment and Regeneration, 25 Nelson Street, East Ham, London E6 6EH.

5. Any objections and other representations relating to the proposed Order should be sent in writing to the Director of Environment and Regeneration, London Borough of Newham, 25 Nelson Street, East Ham, London E6 6EH, by 27 January 2003, quoting Ref E/PTO/NB. All objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
6. Persons objecting to the proposed Order should be aware that, in view of the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, this Council may be obliged to make any comments in respect to this notice open to public inspection.
