NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act 1991, that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Anglian Water Services Ltd, for a variation of consent to discharge treated sewage effluent and sewage effluent under storm conditions from Rayne Sewage Treatment Works, Rayne, Essex to the Pods Brook, a tributary of the River Brain at National Grid Ref TL 7323 2350. This application has been submitted to reflect the increase in population served by the works and also to comply with the requirements of recent environmental legislation. A copy of the applications may be inspected, free of charge, at the offices of the Environment Agency, Rivers House, Threshelfords Business Park, Inworth Road, Kelvedon CO5 9SE. Any person who wishes to make representations or objections with respect to the application should do so in writing to the Area Manager, Environment Agency at Cobham Road, Ipswich, Suffolk IP3 9JE, quoting ASENF3910/15512 not later than 31 January 2003. The Environment Agency is committed to maintaining and, where possible, improving water quality. If, after full consideration of this application and any representations made by interested parties, it is decided that consent can be given, then conditions will be imposed to ensure that the effluent receives treatment before discharge to the receiving waters so that the above aims are met.
