THE CAMDEN (PRESCRIBED ROUTE) (REVOCATION) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2002
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Camden on 6 December 2002 made the above-mentioned Order under sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985 and the Road Traffic Act 1991 and all other enabling powers. The general nature and effect of the Experimental Order will be to revoke the existing one-way traffic flow in Herbrand Street between Bernard Street and Guilford Street and revert this to two-way traffic flow. The Order provides that, in pursuance of section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Director of the Council’s Environment Department or some person authorised in that behalf by him and after consulting with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, may modify or suspend any provision of this Order or any provisions thereof if it appears essential to do so for certain purposes. A copy of the Order which will come into force on 10 January 2003, a plan of the relevant area and the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order, may be inspected, during normal office hours, for a period of 6 months, at the Environment Department Reception, Fifth Floor, Camden Town Hall, Argyle Street Entrance, London WC1H 8EQ. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court. If the provisions of the Order continue for a period of not less than 6 months from the coming into force of the Order or any modification, the Director of Environment Department will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order, as modified, should be reproduced and continued in force indefinitely by means of an Order made under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Any person wishing to object to the making of the Order under section 6 of the said Act, for the purposes of such reproduction and continuation in force, or make other representations, may, within the period of 6 months, send a statement in writing and the grounds thereof of any objection to the Director of Environment Department, Engineering and Traffic Service, Fourth Floor, Camden Town Hall, Argyle Street, London WC1H 8EQ.
