ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE A6 TRUNK ROAD (CLAPHAM BYPASS, BEDFORDSHIRE) (DERESTRICTION) ORDER 2002
The Secretary of State for Transport, hereby gives notice that he has made an Order under section 82(2) and 83(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on a length of the A6 Trunk Road, Clapham Bypass in Bedfordshire. The effect of the Order, which will come into force on 12 December 2002, will be to remove the 30 miles per hour speed limit automatically imposed by the installation of street lighting on a length of the A6, from a point 300 metres north of its junction with Shakespeare Road, Bedford, to a point 3,350 metres north-west of that junction and restore the national speed limit of 70 miles per hour. Any person wishing to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in, the Order, on the ground that it is not within the powers with respect to the Order conferred by the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of, or of any Instrument made under, any provision of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks of 28 November 2002, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein. A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposals and a statement of the Secretary of States’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected during normal office hours at the offices of Carillion-URS, URS House, 200 Harpur Centre, Horne Lane, Bedford MK40 1TS; Bedford Borough Council, Town Hall, St Paul’s Square, Bedford MK40 1SJ; or obtained by application to the Highways Agency, Operation Division, PPD Orders Team, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL, quoting Ref HA28/8/40.
