THE WILTSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (SEMINGTON AQUEDUCT) SCHEME 2000

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has confirmed the above Scheme which was made by Wiltshire County Council, under sections 106(3) and 108(4) of the Highways Act 1980, and which, as confirmed, authorises the Council to construct in connection with the new highway between Semington and Melksham in the County of Wiltshire an aqueduct to carry the navigable waters of the Kennet and Avon Canal and a temporary diversion of the navigable water course in connection with the construction of the new highway. Copies of the Scheme (as confirmed) and of the accompanying plans may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours, at the offices of Wiltshire County Council (Corporate Services Department), County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge; West Wiltshire District Council, Bradley Road, Trowbridge; Melksham Library, Lowbourne, Melksham: Monday 10.00 am to 7.00 pm, Tuesday 10.00 am to 5.00 pm, Thursday 10.00 am to 7.00 pm, Friday 10.00 am to 5.00 pm, Saturday 10.00 am to 4.00 pm; and Semington Post Office, 72 c High Street, Semington: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 6.00 am to 1.00 pm, 1.30 pm to 6.00 pm, Wednesday 6.00 am to 1.00 pm, Saturday 7.00 am to 1.00 pm, Sunday 7.00 am to 3.00 pm. Copies of the Instrument of Confirmation of the Scheme which is entitled “The Wiltshire County Council (Semington Aqueduct) Scheme 2000 Confirmation Instrument 2002” and which contains a copy of the Scheme as confirmed, SI No 1868, can be purchased price £3.50, either through booksellers or direct from the Government bookshops (Her Majesty’s Stationery Office). Any person aggrieved by the Scheme and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or of any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Scheme, may, within 6 weeks of 9 August 2002, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Scheme or of any provison contained therein.
