THE LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS (BUS STOP CLEARWAY) (NO 2) TRAFFIC ORDER 2001

1. Notice is hereby given that the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, on 26 November 2001, made the above-mentioned Order under sections 6, 7(1) and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by section 8 of, and Part 1 of Schedule 5, of the Local Government Act 1985. 2. The general effect of the Bus Stop Clearway Order will be to provide Bus Stop Clearway restrictions to prohibit the stopping at anytime, of any vehicle, except a bus providing a scheduled bus service, within the marked bus stop cages at existing bus stops in the lengths of roads set out in the Schedule to this notice. Some of the bus stops within the roads affected will be extended to a maximum length of 37 metres. In line with Government policy the proposed restrictions will ensure that low floor buses can arrive unimpeded at bus stops thereby enabling the safe boarding and alighting from the bus by elderly, people with disabilities and wheelchair users. 3. A copy of the proposed Order and Schedule can be inspected by appointment at the offices of Customer Services, Council Offices, Southern Grove, London E3 4PN, during normal office hours on Monday to Friday inclusive until the expiration of a peroid of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made. 4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or any provision provided therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
