EAST CAMBRIDGESHIRE (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2001

Take notice that at its Meeting on 17 July 2001 East Cambridgeshire District Council will consider adopting the below Order which will come into force on 14 August 2001 and will regulate off-street parking in the following car parks, namely: Barton Road, Ely (long stay), Barton Road, Ely (coach park), Brays Lane, Ely (short stay), Forehill, Ely (short stay), Forehill, Ely (long stay), Newnham Street, Ely (short stay), Newnham Street, Ely (long stay), St Mary’s Street, Ely (short stay), Ship Lane, Ely (long stay), Willow Walk, Ely (long stay), Fisherman’s Car Park (Riverside) Ely (long stay), Cresswell’s Lane, Ely (long stay), Cresswell’s Lane coach and lorry park (12 hours between 5.00 am and 6.00 pm), Main Street, Littleport (long stay), Clay Street, Soham (long stay), Fountain Lane, Soham (long stay). In each case, except Brays Lane, Ely, and St Mary’s Street, Ely, where “short stay” means a maximum permitted stay of 2 hours with no return to that car park for one hour. “Short stay” means a maximum permitted stay of 3 hours with no return to that car park for one hour. “Long stay” means a maximum permitted stay of 23 hours in any period of twenty four. Coaches using the Barton Road, Ely, coach park are limited to a maximum permitted stay of 12 hours in any period of twenty four. In each case, except Barton Road, Ely, coach park and Cresswell’s Lane, Ely, coach and lorry park, the following classes of vehicles are allowed, namely: Motor cars within the provisions of section 136(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; Motor cycles; Motor vehicles constructed or adapted for use for the conveyance of goods of burden the unladen weight does not exceed 1,525kg; Invalid carriages; Disabled persons’ vehicles. The Council will be able to issue notices to pay a penalty charge for the following reasons: 1. Exceeding maximum permitted parking period. 2. Parking in a disabled person’s parking bay without displaying a valid Orange badge. 3. Parking outside a parking bay (including parking at the end of a row, on a walkway or on the grass). 4. Parking on double yellow lines or on any other yellow marking. 5. Parking in a parking bay designated in Schedule 2 to the Order as being for other types of vehicle. 6. Parking in more than one bay. 7. Returning to a parking place within one hour of leaving it. Penalty charges will be increased to £30 (£20 if paid within 14 days of issue). The Council will be able to take court action for non-payment and for any other contravention of the Order. A copy of the East Cambridgeshire (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 1999 shall be available for inspection at the Council Offices, Nutholt Lane, Ely, between 8.45 am and 5.00 pm (Monday to Thursday) and 8.45 am to 4.30 pm (Friday). Any objection to the Order may be made in writing or in person at the full Council meeting on 17 July 2001 at 3.00 pm, at the Council offices referred to above.
