WATER RESOURCES ACT 1991, SCHEDULE 10 (AS AMENDED BY THE ENVIRONMENT ACT 1995)
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTION 88

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the above Act that an application has been made to the Environment Agency by Severn Trent Water Limited for consent to discharge sewage in an emergency and storm sewage to the River Severn Estuary at National Grid Ref. SO 6991 1289 from a new sewage pumping station at White Hart Car Park, Broadoak, Gloucestershire. The application states that the proposed pumping station will contain the following facilities designed to minimise the frequency, duration and effect of the discharges. (a) a 24 hour response telemetry alarm system shall be provided and maintained to give notification of failure or breakdown of the pumping station; (b) a standby pump which shall activate should the duty pump become inoperative; (c) an emergency power supply point; (d) a screening device to ensure removal of gross solids; (e) storage capacity equivalent to at least 2.7 hours of the dry weather flow rate shall be provided at the pumping station; (f) the storm overflow will only operate when the storge capacity of 0.7 cubic metres in the upstream sewer and wet well has been exceeded and the rate of flow arriving at the storm overflow chamber has exceeded 3.7 litres per second. Please note that any consent granted as a result of this application will require the applicant to install all of the above facilities. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Team Leader—Water Quality Consenting at the Agency’s offices at Riversmeet House, Newtown Industrial Estate, Northway Lane, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire GL20 8JG, during the period 26th January 2001 to 9th March 2001 inclusive, quoting Ref. WA/LS/61428. A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, during normal office hours at the Agency’s offices at the above address.
