The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the above Act to authorise the stopping-up of the whole of the western arm of Westmorland Way, 5 parts of the south-eastern footway Yorkshire Road, a part of the north-western footway of Lancaster Avenue and 2 parts of Hertford Way, Berkshire Way and Leicester Avenue, Pollards Hill, Mitcham. If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in order to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission granted to Pollards Hill Housing Association by the London Borough of Merton on 1st March 2000, under reference 99/P1876. The proposed Order will require improvements to Lancaster Avenue, Leicester Avenue and the unnamed highway between South Lodge Avenue and Berkshire Way and the provision of new footpaths maintainable at the public expense for which the London Borough of Merton will be the local highway authority. Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan may be inspected at all reasonable hours during 28 days commencing on 5th January 2001, at the offices of the London Borough of Merton, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the Government Office for London, (quoting reference LTM 5/24/3) at the address stated below. Any person may object to the making of the proposed Order within the period of 28 days commencing on 5th January 2001, by notice to the Secretary of State, quoting the above reference, at the Transport Branch, 10th Floor, Government Office for London, Riverwalk House, 157-161 Millbank, London SW1P 4RR. In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it.
