BY THE QUEEN A Proclamation APPOINTING TUESDAY, 4TH JUNE AS A BANK HOLIDAY IN ENGLAND, WALES, AND NORTHERN IRELAND INSTEAD OF MONDAY, 27TH MAY 2002 AND APPOINTING MONDAY, 3RD JUNE 2002 AS A BANK HOLIDAY IN ENGLAND, WALES, AND NORTHERN IRELAND ELIZABETH R. Whereas it appears to Us that it is inexpedient that Monday, the twenty-seventh day of May in the year 2002 should be a bank holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland and We consider it desirable that Tuesday, the fourth day of June in the year 2002 should be appointed a bank holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland in its stead: And whereas, to mark the Fiftieth Anniversary of Our Accession to the Throne, We consider it desirable that Monday, the third day of June in the year 2002 should be a bank holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland: We, therefore, in pursuance of section 1(2) of the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971, declare that Monday, the twenty-seventh day of May in the year 2002 shall not be a bank holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland and do hereby appoint in its stead Tuesday, the fourth day of June in the year 2002 and, in pursuance of section 1(3) of the said Act, do hereby appoint Monday, the third day of June in the year 2002 to be a bank holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
