THE A1 TRUNK ROAD (EDWORTH TURN, BEDFORDSHIRE) (PROHIBITION OF ENTRY) ORDER 200

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he proposes to make an Order, under sections 1(1) and 2(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, on the A1 Trunk Road near Edworth in Bedfordshire.
The effect of the Order would be to close the layby situated on the southbound carriageway of the trunk road between points 171 metres and 270 metres north of the Edworth turn (C184). The layby is to be incorporated in an extended deceleration lane for the Edworth turn as part of the Langford turn improvement scheme.
A copy of the proposed Order, a plan illustrating the proposals and a statement of the Secretary of State’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected, during normal office hours, at the offices of Mid Bedfordshire District Council, 23 London Road, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire SG18 8ER; Thorburn Colquhoun, 200 Harpur Centre, Horne Lane, Bedford MK40 1TS; or obtained on application to the Highways Agency, Project Services Secretariat, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3LL, quoting Ref. HA 41/7/65.
Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should write to the Highways Agency at the above address stating the grounds of objection not later than 15th September 2000.
