THE BARNET (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) (NO. 3) TRAFFIC ORDER 2000
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Barnet have made, on 23rd August 2000, the above-mentioned Order under sections 6 and 124 and Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The general nature and effect of the Order will be to give permanent effect to the previous experimental Order which prohibited vehicles wider than 2.113 metres (7 feet) from using Netherlands Road as a through route by placing width restrictions in those lengths of Netherlands Road that lie: (a) on the north-westbound direction lane between a point 19 metres south-east of a point opposite the south-eastern kerbline of The Hook and a point 4 metres north-west of that point; (b) on the south-eastbound direction lane between a point 10 metres south-east of a point opposite the south-eastern kerbline of The Hook and a point 4 metres south-east of that point. The prohibitions referred to in paragraph 2 above will not apply in relation to anything done: (a) with the permission or at the direction of a police constable or of a traffic warden in uniform; or (b) in accordance with traffic signs placed pursuant to section 66 or section 67 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984; (c) in relation to any vehicle being used to provide a London Bus Service by virtue of an agreement with London Regional Transport made under section 3(2) of London Regional Transport Act 1984, equipped with a device capable of operating the electronically operated rising barrier situated between the island sites. A copy of the Order, which will come into operation on Tuesday, 29th August 2000, a plan which indicates the location and effects of the Order and of the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order, can be inspected between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays (Bank Holidays excepted) inclusive until the expiration of a period of 6 weeks from the date on which this notice is published, at the Traffic Section, Room 1006, Barnet House, 1255 High Road, Whetstone, London N20 0EJ; and the Town Hall, The Burroughs, Hendon, London NW4 4BG. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any of the requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the order may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
