THE CITY OF MANCHESTER (CHEETHAM HILL ROAD/QUEEN’S ROAD, CHEETHAM) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2000 AND THE PROPOSED STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS AT CHEETHAM HILL, MANCHESTER
Whereas the Manchester City Council has submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions for confirmation an Order made by it under section 226(1)(a) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, and the Acquisition of Land Act 1981, authorising it to acquire compulsorily for the purpose of securing the carrying out of development, redevelopment and improvement in connection with a mixed-use development comprising retail, commercial, industrial and leisure uses with supporting infrastructure and highway improvements the land described in the Schedule hereto. The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions proposes to make an Order under section 247 of the 1990 Act authorising the stopping-up of highways and footpaths at Rayburn Way and New Elizabeth Street, Cheetham Hill, Manchester. If authorised the stopping-up would enable the creation of a mixed-use development comprising retail, commercial, industrial and leisure uses with supporting infrastructure and highway improvements. Notice is hereby given that Mrs. S. Hesketh BSc (Hons) MRTPI, an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions will attend at Committee Room 4, Level 1, The Town Hall, Albert Square, Manchester, on Tuesday, 5th September 2000, at 10 a.m., to hold a public local inquiry into these matters.
