STOPPING-UP OF AREA OF HIGHWAY (FOOTWAY) AT MERCHANT STREET, BROADMEAD, IN THE CITY OF BRISTOL
The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that he has made an Order, under section 247 of the above Act, entitled “The Stopping-up of Highways (City of Bristol) (No. SW4) Order 2000”, authorising the stopping-up of an area of highway (footway) at Merchant Street, Broadmead, in Bristol, to enable the development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with the planning permission referred to in that Schedule. It should be noted that the size of the area to be stopped up is now smaller than originally stated on the draft Order. The area to be stopped up is approximately 15 metres in length and varies from 4.5 metres to 5.2 metres in width. The Order and the plan have been amended to show the new dimensions. Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Government Office for the South West (Decisions Team), 4th Floor, The Pithay, Bristol BS1 2PB (quoting Ref. GOSW(T)5117/35/1/33), and may be inspected, at all reasonable hours, at the offices of Bristol City Council, Brunel House, St. George’s Road, Bristol BS1 5UY. Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, of or any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any Regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 18th August 2000, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.
