THE HACKNEY (WEIGHT RESTRICTION) (NO. 3) ORDER 2000
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Hackney, on 3rd August
2000, made the above-mentioned Order under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984, as amended by section 8 of, and Part I of Schedule 5 to, the Local Government
Act 1985. 2. The general effects of the Hackney (Weight Restriction) (No. 3) Order
2000 will be to make the provisions of the Hackney (Weight Restrictions) (No. 1) Experimental
Order 1995 permanent and in accordance with the plan annexed to the Order prevent
vehicles of 7.5 tonne and over from entering and using the carriageway at the junctions
specified in the attached Schedule 1. 3. The prohibition referred to in paragraph
2 above will not apply to vehicles being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police
purposes in an emergency. It will also not apply where access is required for delivery
or collection to properties in the roads listed in Schedule 2. 4. The prohibition
referred to in paragraph 2 above will not apply to anything done with the permission
or at the direction of a police constable in uniform, or anything done in accordance
with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the highway
pursuant to section 66 or 67 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 5. In pursuance
of section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Head of Land Use and
Transportation of the London Borough of Hackney, or some person authorised in that
behalf by her, may if it appears to her or that person, essential in the interests
of the expeditious, convenient or safe movement of traffic or for the preserving or
improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order runs
or suspend the Order or any provision thereof. 6. A copy of the Order, which will
come into operation on 7th August 2000, of the plan of the proposed restrictions,
and of the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order can be inspected, during
normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, until the expiration of 6 months
from the date on which the Order was made, in the Reception Area, London Borough of
Hackney, Eagle House, 161 City Road, London EC1V 1NR. 7. Copies of the proposed Order
