THE STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS (RIVERSIDE ESTATE, PONTYPOOL, TORFAEN) ORDER 200 

Notice is hereby given, that the Assembly Secretary for Environment proposes to make an Order, under section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, to authorise the stopping-up of the lengths of highway described in Schedule 1 to this notice, and the provision of new lengths of highway described in Schedule 2.
If the Order is made, the stopping-up will be authorised only in Order to enable the development described in Schedule 3 to this notice to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted by Torfaen County Borough Council on 16th May 2000, under Ref. 00/P/03679. The Order will cease to have effect upon the cessation of the planning permission. During 28 days from 3rd August 2000, copies of the draft Order and the deposited plan may be inspected, free of charge, during normal office hours at Pontypool Area Housing Office, Civic Centre, Pontypool, Torfaen, or may be obtained, free of charge, from the address below quoting the National Assembly reference.
Within the above mentioned period of 28 days any person may, by notice to the National Assembly for Wales, Transport Directorate, RA3, Cathays Park, Cardiff CF10 3NQ (quoting Ref. CZ5 10-5-35-2), object to the Order. In the perparation of an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it.

Schedule 1
(All measurements are approximate)

Description of the highway to be stopped-up, under this Order:

1. An irregularly shaped, roughly triangular area of highway, labelled A, on the deposited plan, situated on the western side of Davis Close, with a total area of 128.06 square metres, a maximum width of 10 metres and a length of 23.40 metres.
2. An irregularly shaped area of highway, labelled B on the deposited plan, extending along Davis Close for 62.20 metres and to the west and east of the Close, with a total area of 619.89 metres.
3. A length of highway, labelled C on the deposited plan, (forming an “L” shape) on the western side of Davis Close, and extending west and then north, with a maximum width of 1.88 metres, and a total length of 55.85 metres.
4. An irregularly shaped area of highway, labelled D on the deposited plan, with a total area of 6.12 square metres, a maximum width of 1.30 metres and extending for 7.08 metres.
5. An irregularly shaped, roughly triangular area of highway, labelled E on the deposited plan, with a total area of 30.70 square metres, a maximum width of 4.80 metres and a length of 14.60 metres.
6. An irregularly shaped area of highway, labelled F on the deposited plan, extending for 50.80 metres along the southern end of Davis Close, with a total area of 316.59 square metres and a maximum width of 9.20 metres.
7. A rectangular shaped area of highway, labelled G on the deposited plan, forming the southern end of Davis Close, with a total area of 57.99 square metres, a maximum width of 6.90 metres and a length of 8.60 metres.
Schedule 2
Description of the new highway to be provided:
1. An irregularly shaped area of highway, labelled P on the deposited plan, situated generally at the west of Davis Close, with a total area of 296.92 square metres, a maximum width of 15.80 metres and a total length of 34.50 metres.
2. An area of highway, triangular in shape, labelled Q on the deposited plan, with a total area of 1.44 square metres, a maximum width of 2.40 metres and a length of 1.33 metres.
3. An irregularly shaped area of highway, labelled R on the deposited plan, located generally to the east of Davis Close, with a total area of 762.59 square metres, a maximum width of 8.79 metres and a total length of 75.97 metres.
4. An irregularly shaped area of highway, labelled S on the deposited plan, located generally to the east of Davis Close, with a total area of 1,317.32 square metres, a maximum width of 9 metres and a total length of 148.09 metres.
5. An irregularly shaped area of highway, labelled T on the deposited plan, located generally to the west of Davis Close, with a total area of 186.94 square metres, a maximum width of 19 metres and a total length of 28.80 metres.
6. An area of highway, rectangular in shape, labelled U on the deposited plan, situated on the western side of Davis Close, with a total area of 37.16 square metres, a maximum width of 8.50 metres and a length of 4.70 metres.
Schedule 3
Erection of 62 new two and three storey houses and bungalows.
