PROPOSED WORKS ON COMMON LAND KNOWN AS ST. JAMES COMMON, SHAFTESBURY, DORSET

Notice is hereby given that an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions will attend at Shaftesbury Town Hall, Shaftesbury, Dorset SP7 8JG, on Tuesday, 30th November 1999 to hold a public inquiry into an application by North Dorset District Council for consent under section 194 of the Law of Property Act 1925 to the construction of ditches and embankments upon certain parts of St. James Common containing 8,124 square metres or thereabouts. The inquiry will begin at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, 30th November 1999 and an evening session will be held on Wednesday, 1st December 1999, at 7 p.m. at the above-mentioned venue. It is desirable that all persons interested should attend the inquiry. Any person desirous of being heard on the subject matter of the applications, whether considered in relation to the benefit of the neighbourhood or to private interests, may, at the discretion of the inspector, give evidence at the inquiry or may arrange for someone to do so on his or her behalf. Copies of the application by North Dorset District Council; the applicant’s statement in support of the application; and a plan showing the area of common land affected and details of the proposal will be available for inspection at North Dorset District Council, Council Offices, Nordon, Salisbury Road, Blandford Forum, Dorset DT11 7LL, and at the Town Clerks Office (contact Sandra Elcock), The Town Hall, Shaftesbury, Dorset SP7 8JE, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted), during the 3 weeks preceding the public inquiry.
