BY THE QUEEN A Proclamation APPOINTING TUESDAY, 28TH DECEMBER 1999, FRIDAY, 31ST DECEMBER 1999, MONDAY, 3RD JANUARY 2000 AND MONDAY, 1ST MAY 2000 AS BANK HOLIDAYS IN ENGLAND, WALES AND NORTHERN IRELAND AND APPOINTING MONDAY, 27TH DECEMBER 1999 AS A BANK HOLIDAY IN SCOTLAND AND APPOINTING TUESDAY, 28TH DECEMBER 1999 AS A BANK HOLIDAY IN SCOTLAND IN PLACE OF SATURDAY, 25TH DECEMBER 1999, AND APPOINTING FRIDAY, 31ST DECEMBER 1999 AS A BANK HOLIDAY IN SCOTLAND AND APPOINTING TUESDAY, 4TH JANUARY 2000 AS A BANK HOLIDAY IN SCOTLAND IN PLACE OF SATURDAY, 1ST JANUARY 2000 AND APPOINTING MONDAY, 29TH MAY 2000 AS A BANK HOLIDAY IN SCOTLAND ELIZABETH R. Whereas We consider it desirable that Tuesday, the twenty-eighth day of December, and Friday, the thirty-first day of December in the year 1999 and Monday, the third day of January and Monday, the first day of May in the year 2000 should be bank holidays in England, Wales and Northern Ireland: And whereas We consider it desirable that Monday, the twenty-seventh day of December in the year 1999 should be a bank holiday in Scotland: And whereas it appears to Us that it is inexpedient that Saturday, the twenty-fifth day of December in the year 1999 should be a bank holiday in Scotland and We consider it desirable that Tuesday, the twenty-eighth day of December in the year 1999 should be appointed a bank holiday in Scotland in place of it: And whereas We consider it desirable that Friday, the thirty-first day of December in the year 1999 should be a bank holiday in Scotland: And whereas it appears to Us that it is inexpedient that Saturday, the first day of January in the year 2000 should be a bank holiday in Scotland and We consider it desirable that Tuesday, the fourth day of January in the year 2000 should be appointed a bank holiday in Scotland in place of it: And whereas We consider it desirable that Monday, the twenty-ninth day of May in the year 2000 should be a bank holiday in Scotland: Now, therefore, We, in pursuance of section 1(2) and (3) of the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971, do hereby appoint Tuesday, the twenty-eighth day of December, Friday, the thirty-first day of December in the year 1999, Monday, the third day of January and Monday, the first day of May in the year 2000 to be bank holidays in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and Monday, the twenty-seventh day of December in the year 1999 to be a bank holiday in Scotland and declare that Saturday, the twenty-fifth day of December in the year 1999 shall not be a bank holiday in Scotland and do hereby appoint in place of it Tuesday, the twenty-eighth day of December in the year 1999 and do hereby appoint Friday, the thirty-first day of December in the year 1999 to be a bank holiday in Scotland and declare that Saturday, the first day of January in the year 2000 shall not be a bank holiday in Scotland and do hereby appoint in place of it Tuesday, the fourth day of January in the year 2000 and do hereby appoint Monday, the twenty-ninth day of May in the year 2000 to be a bank holiday in Scotland.
