TRANSFER OF GENERAL BUSINESS

Notice is hereby given that Sun Alliance and London Insurance plc applied to the Financial Services Authoirty on 1st June 1999, for their approval, pursuant to section 49 of the Insurance Companies Act 1982 (as amended) and the Contracting Out (Functions in Relation to Insurance) Order 1998, to transfer to Sun Direct Versicherungs Aktiengesellschaft all of its rights and obligations under policies written by it in the United Kingdom prior to 26th May 1999. Copies of the statement of particulars of the proposed transfer are available for inspection at Sun Direct Versicherungs AG, Jahnstraße 3, 40215 Düsseldorf, Germany, Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. until 26th July 1999. Written respresentations concering the transfer may be sent to the Financial Services Authority, Insurance and Friendly Societies Division, 25 The North Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London E14 5HS, before 26th August 1999. The Financial Services Authority will not determine the application until after considering any representations made to it before that date.
