NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO VARY A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER
Notice is hereby given that an application is being made to the Environment Agency,
Thames Region by Thames Water Utilities Ltd., Gaisnborough House (RBH2), Manor Farm
Road, Reading, Berkshire RG2 0JN to vary licence serial number 28/39/20/11, to abstract
water from underground strata (chalk) at Woods Farm Pumping Station, Berkshire, National
Grid Reference SU 582 795.
The variation applied for is to increase the current peak hourly rate from 172.7
cubic metres per hour to 250 cubic metres per hour and the current peak daily rate
from 3,410 cubic metres per day to 5,500 cubic metres per day and the yearly rate
from 1,136,500 cubic metres per year to 1,825,000 cubic metres per year. The water
will be used for public water supply in the area of South Oxfordshire. It is also
proposed to add a new point of abstraction at NGR SU 582 795.
The licences at Cholsey pumping station (Licence serial number 28/39/20/5) and West
Hendred pumping station (Licence serial number 28/39/18/6) will be revoked at the
same time so that there will be no aggregate increase in licensed abstraction.
A copy of the application and of any map, plan or other document submitted with it
may be inspected, free of charge, at Goring Post Office, High Street, Goring-on-Thames,
Reading, Berkshire RG8 9AT, at all reasonable hours during the period beginning on
Friday, 18th June 1999 and ending on Monday, 19th July 1999.
Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so
in writing to the Abstraction Licensing Manager, Environment Agency—Thames Region,
Kings Meadow House, Kings Meadow Road, Reading, Berkshire RG1 8DQ before the end of
the said period.
