ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
THE BOROUGH OF TAMWORTH (BANCROFT 20 M.P.H. ZONE) ORDER 1999
Notice is hereby given that Tamworth Borough Council pursuant to arrangements made
under section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 with the County Council of Stafford
in exercise of powers conferred on that County Council under sections 84(1) and (2)
of the Road Traffic Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation
with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part 111 of Schedule 9 to the
Act have made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit vehicles travelling at a
speed exceeding 20 miles per hour in Bancroft for its entire length.
A copy of the Order which becomes effective on Monday, 24th May 1999, together with
a plan showing the affected road and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making
the Order may be examined at Marmion House, Lichfield Street, Tamworth, between 9
a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or any provision contained
therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984 or that any requirement thereof of any such Instrument made thereunder has
not been complied with, may within 6 weeks from the date of this notice apply to the
High Court for this purpose.
