COAST PROTECTION ACT 1949

The Easington District Council, acting in their capacity as coast protection authority, hereby give notice under subsection (i) of section 5 of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection works as described herein at Seaham in the District of Easington. The work will consist of a rock armour revetment and associated works to protect land seaward of the existing cliff line, from Seaham Harbour’s southern pier to Hazel Dene, north of Seaham Fleet Rock. The estimated cost of the works is approximately £3,650,000. A plan and typical details are available and may be inspected at the Council’s office at the address shown below between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. Any person may, not later than 28 days after the publication of this notice, serve a written notice of objection to the above proposal on the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and on the above-mentioned authority. Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be sent by pre-paid post to Flood and Coastal Defence with Emergencies Division, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Eastbury House, 30-34 Albert Embankment, London SE1 7TL, and to the clerk of the authority at the address shown below.
