NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Please take notice that G. Forbes and Son, of 3 Hackworth Road, North West Industrial Estate, Peterlee, County Durham SR8 2JQ, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from The River Wear, between National Grid References NZ 2879 4700 and NZ 2842 4875 at Lumley Grange Farm and Harbour House, Great Lumley, County Durham, and from The River Tyne, between National Grid References NZ 0295 6205 and NZ 0600 6245, Bywell Home Farm, Stocksfield, Northumberland. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: (a) From the River Wear at 73 cubic metres per hour, 1,028 cubic metres per day, 61,680 cubic metres per year between 1st May and 31st September, each year; and (b) From the River Tyne at 73 cubic metres per hour, 1,028 cubic metres per day, 31,000 cubic metres per year between 1st May and 31st September, each year. The water will be used for spray irrigation (water for potato crop). A copy of the application and of any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Great Lumley P.O., Front Street, Great Lumley, County Durham; and at Mickley Square P.O., 22 Riding Terrance, Stocksfield, Tyne and Wear, between 29th March 1999 and 29th April 1999. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 7AR, before the end of the same period.
