THE LEWISHAM LOCAL ROAD (A2 AND A20) RED ROUTE (BUS PRIORITY) TRAFFIC ORDER 1999 THE LEWISHAM LOCAL ROAD (A20) RED ROUTE (BUS PRIORITY) TRAFFIC ORDER 1999

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Lewisham propose to make the two traffic Orders referred to above in accordance with the provisions of section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended). The general nature and effect of the two Orders would respectively be reconsolidation of bus lane provisions into revised model of order for existing with-flow bus lanes at: (1) (a) Lewisham Way (A20) south-west side, from approximately 65 metres north-west of Shardeloes Road north-westward for 250 metres, north-westbound; and (b) Parkfield Road (A2) south-east side, south-westbound; both operating 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., Mondays to Fridays inclusive; (2) (a) Lewisham High Street (A20) north-east side, from approximately 30 metres north of Rennell Street (opposite) south-eastward for 135 metres, south-eastbound; and (b) Lewisham High Street (A20) north-east side, offside lane, from approximately 50 metres north-west of Lewis Grove south-eastward to Lewis Gove junction, south-eastbound (bus-only route); both operating at all times; prohibiting any vehicle from being in a bus lane or a bus-only route during its operational hours, unless a permitted or exempt vehicle (replacing previously used terms of ‘entering or proceeding’ in a bus lane). Offside bus lane at Lewisham High Street approaching Lewis Grove, item (2)(b) above, to be classed as a bus-only route, restricting its use to local buses only making the right turn into Lewis Grove (traffic movement already prohibited to other vehicles). Permitted vehicles: in the bus lanes; buses, taxis, dial-a-ride and pedal cycles; in the bus-only route: local buses only. Exemptions from bus lane (but not bus-only route) restrictions include: picking up and setting down passengers, loading and unloading if not otherwise prohibited and crossing the bus lane for access to adjacent roads or premises. Exemptions from bus lane and bus-only route restrictions include: various statutory duties, avoiding an accident, emergency service vehicles and anything done with police permission or direction. A copy of the draft of the Orders and plans giving more detailed particulars of the measures and of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Orders can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays at the offices of London Borough of Lewisham One-Stop-Shop, Laurence House ground floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU. Any objection or other representation relating to the Orders must be made in writing and any objection must specify the grounds on which it is made. Any such objection or representation must be sent to Lewisham Design Services, quoting Ref. R53.2/P. Sear, Laurence House 2nd floor, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU, to arrive not later than 21 days from the date of publication of this notice.
