THE A14 TRUNK ROAD (HAUGHLEY, SUFFOLK) (PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURNS, RIGHT TURNS AND “U” TURNS) ORDER 1999
The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives
notice that he has made an Order under sections 1(1) and 2(1) and (2) of the Road
Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on a length of the A14 Trunk Road at Haughley in Suffolk.
The effect of the Order would be to prohibit vehicles from:
(a) turning left from the eastbound carriageway into the U4620 at Haughley New Street;
(b) turning right into the westbound carriageway from:
(i) the C401 (Fishponds Way), and
(ii) the U4617 (Spikes Lane);
(c) making a “U” turn from the eastbound carriageway to the westbound carriageway
and from the westbound carriageway to the eastbound carriageway through the gaps in
the central reservation opposite:
(i) the U4620 at Haughley New Street,
(ii) the U4502 (Shepherds Lane), and
(iii) the U4617 (Spikes Lane); and
(d) making a “U” turn from the eastbound carriageway to the westbound carriageway
through the gap in the central reservation opposite the C401 (Fishponds Way).
Police, ambulance and fire brigade vehicles will be exempt from these prohibitions.
Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained
in, the Order on the ground that it is not within the powers with respect to the Order
conferred by the above Act, or on the ground that any requirement of, or of any Instrument
made under, any provision of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the
Order may, within 6 weeks of 27th January 1999, apply to the High Court for the suspension
of or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.
A copy of the Order may be inspected during normal offices hours at the offices of
Owen Williams Consulting Engineers, Highways Maintenance Depot, Lodge Lane, Ipswich,
Suffolk; Mid Suffolk District Council, 131 High Street, Needham Market, Suffolk; Haughley
Sub Post Office, 2 Old Street, Haughley, Suffolk; or obtained by application to the
Highways Agency, Network and Customer Services (Midland), Heron House, 49-53 Goldington
Road, Bedford MK40 3LL.
