PROPOSED OFF STREET CAR PARK—WANDLE ROAD SURFACE CAR PARK

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Croydon, propose to make the Croydon (Off-street Parking Places) (No. 2) Traffic Order 1998, under sections 32, 35, 124 of, and Parts I to IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Local Government Act 1985. 2. The general effect of the Order will be: (a) to amend the Croydon (Off-street Parking Places) (No. 2) Traffic Order 1991 to designate the area of land located on the north-west side of the junction of Sheldon Street and Wandle Road as a short term “pay and display” operated Car Park (known as Wandle Road Surface Car Park); (b) to provide that the regulations contained within that Order governing the use of Off-street Car Parks now apply to the Wandle Road Surface Car Park; (c) to specify that passenger vehicles (with 8 seats or less) may be left in the parking places provided; (d) to provide that the various charges for leaving a vehicle in this Car Park may vary: (i) from £1 fixed fee on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.; (ii) from 60p for a period up to 1 hour to £3 (maximum) for 24 hours between 7 a.m. on Saturdays and 7 a.m. on Mondays inclusive; (e) to allow Orange Badge holders and motor cycles to use the parking places without charge; (f) to provide that the penalty charge for contravening the Off-street Car Parking regulations will be £40, reduced to £20 on early settlement of the fine. Note : Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive Council staff permit holders only have sole use of the Surface Car Park. 3. A copy of the proposed Order, of the Council’s statement of reasons for proposing to make the Order, and of a map which indicates the area of land to which the proposed Order relates can be inspected until the expiration of a period of 28 days from the date on which this notice is published during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at the Enquiry Counter, “One Stop” Facility, Taberner House, Park Lane, Croydon, Surrey. 4. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to the Order Making Section, Public Services & Works Department, Room 4.06, Municipal Offices, Fell Road, Croydon, quoting the reference T&P/PS/JAA/7/D45, within the aforementioned period of 28 days. 6. The Councillors for this Ward are Bob Coatman, Pat Knight and Michael Wunn. 7. The proposed Order is intended to formally designate an area of land situated on the north-west side of the junction of Sheldon Street and Wandle Road as a short term “pay and display” operated Off-street Car Park to generate extra income for the Authority, create increased control by applying regulations to govern the use of the Car Park and provide parking facilities in a location convenient to the amenities of central Croydon.
