Notice of application for a licence to abstract water

Take notice that A L Legge & Son Limited, of Wannage Farm, Southery, Downham Market, Norfolk PE38 0PT, is applying to the Environment Agency, Anglian Region for a licence to abstract water from Southery and District Internal Drainage Board main drain and farm dyke between National Grid References TL 6075 9475 and TL 6105 9478, at Further Fen Farm, in the parish of Southery, in the district of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, in the County of Norfolk.   The proposal is to abstract water at the following rate:   (a) 200 cubic metres per hour, 4,800 cubic metres per day and 91,000 cubic metres per year between 1st November and 31st March in any year. The water will be used to fill a winter storage reservoir for subsequent discharge at National Grid Reference TL 6083 9473 and direct overhead spray irrigation of arable crops;   (b) To re-abstract 200 cubic metres per hour, 3,200 cubic metres per day, and 81,900 cubic metres per year, from Southery and District Internal Drainage Board main drains and farm dykes at Further Fen Farm, Ferry Bank Farm, Wannage Farm and Crossbank Farm, in the parishes of Southery and Feltwell, in the district of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, in the County of Norfolk, between 1st April and 31st October each year following compensatory discharges into the drains from the reservoir. The water will be used for overhead spray irrigation of arable crops.   A copy of the application and map, plans or other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Wannage Farm, Southery, Downham Market, Norfolk PE38 0PT, between 20th February and 20th March 1998.   Any person who wishes to make representations about this application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency Anglian Region, Central Area, Bromholme Lane, Brampton, Huntingdon PE18 8NE, before the end of the said period.
