ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 Section 84
The A40 Trunk Road (Western Avenue, Ealing) (Speed Limits) Order 1998

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives notice that on 12th February 1998, he made the above-named Order, the effect of which is to impose speed limits of:   (a) 40 m.p.h. on:       (i) the A40 Western Avenue Trunk Road between the junction with Old Oak Common Lane and a point 369 metres east of the Argyle Road bridge, a length of approximately 5.5 kilometres;       (ii) the westbound exit slip road from its junction with the westbound carriageway of Western Avenue to a point 50 metres east of the Argyle Road bridge, a length of approximately 565 metres; and       (iii) the eastbound access slip road from a point 10 metres east of Bideford Avenue to the eastbound carriageway of Western Avenue, a length of approximately 195 metres; and   (b) 50 m.p.h. on:       (i) the A40 Western Avenue Trunk Road between a point 369 metres east of the Argyle Road bridge and a point 64 metres west of the Islip Manor footbridge, a length of approximately 4.8 kilometres;       (ii) the westbound access slip road between a point 10 metres west of the junction with the Argyle Road bridge and its junction with the westbound carriageway of Western Avenue, a distance of approximately 410 metres; and       (iii) the eastbound exit slip road between its junction with the eastbound carriageway of Western Avenue and a point 50 metres west of its junction with the Argyle Road bridge, a length of approximately 360 metres.   A copy of the Order and plan which illustrates its provisions together with copies of the Trunk Roads (Speed Limits) (No. 2) Order 1972 and the Trunk Road (A40) (Western Avenue, Ealing) (Speed Limits) Order 1984, have been deposited at the offices of the Highways Agency, Room 5/31, St. Christopher House, Southwark Street, London SE1 0TE, and at the offices of Brown and Root, Ealing Technical Services, (BRETS), 22-24 Uxbridge Road, Ealing W5 2BP, where they may be inspected between 9.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, excepting Bank Holidays, until 27th March 1998.   Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that a requirement of that Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
