Notice of application for a licence to abstract water

Take notice that Dales Water Services Ltd., Witherick Lane, Melmerby, Ripon, North Yorkshire HG4 5JB, on behalf of Thomas Armstrong Holdings Ltd., Workington Road, Flimby, Maryport, Cumbria CA15 8OY, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from a borehole at National Grid Reference point SE 3420 8300 at the Concrete Block Works, Pickhill, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, in the parish of Pickhill with Raby, Hambleton District of North Yorkshire. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 6 cubic metres per hour, 30 cubic metres per day, 5,000 cubic metres per year. The water will be used in the manufacture of concrete products.   A copy of the application and of any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at the Concrete Block Works, Pickhill, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, between 13th February 1998 and 13th March 1998.   Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, North East Region, Dales Area, Licensing Section, Coverdale House, Aviator Court, Clifton Moor, York YO3 4UZ, before the end of the said period.
