Notice of application to vary a licence to abstract water

Take notice that The National Trust North Western Region of The Hollens, Grasmere, Ambleside, Cumbria LA22 9QZ, is applying to the Environment Agency to vary the licence serial number 26 73 701 008 to abstract water at National Grid Reference NY 2852 0512 at Great Langdale, Ambleside, Cumbria. The variation being applied for is to increase abstraction rates as follows: hourly, from 250 gallons (1.14 cubic metres) to 7.5 cubic metres; daily, from 1,000 gallons (4.55 cubic metres) to 50 cubic metres; annually, from 200,000 gallons (909 cubic metres) to 11,600 cubic metres.   A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at National Trust Campsite, Great Langdale, between 13th February 1998 and 13th March 1998.   Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, North West Region, Chertsey Hill, London Road, Carlisle, Cumbria CA1 2QX, before the end of the said period.
