Notice under section 27 of the Trustee Act 1925

This notice concerns you if you are an employee or former employee of Harcourt Brace & Company Limited (formerly called Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Limited and Academic Press Inc. (London) Limited), Academic Books Limited and Johnson Reprint Company Limited, or widow or widower, child or other dependant of such employee or former employee. The Harcourt Brace & Company Pension Fund (“the Fund”) is being wound up. This means that the Trustees of the Fund need to establish exactly who are the beneficiaries of the Fund, and their entitlements to benefits, so that the Trustees can arrange for the assets of the Fund to be used to provide pensions and benefits due to the beneficiaries. The Trustees have already written to all of the Members and beneficiaries of the Fund for whom they have records. If you have not already received a letter from the Trustees and you have, or think that you may have, a right to benefit under the Fund, you should write to Mrs. P. Scott, Harcourt Brace & Company Limited, 26-28 Oval Road, London NW1 7DX, within 2 months from the date of issue of this notice after which date the Trustees of the Fund will proceed to apply all the remaining assets of the Fund in securing the liabilities attributable to the persons so entitled. If you have not recently been written to by the Trustees and do not notify the Trustees of your possible rights to benefits within 2 months of the date of this notice you will lose any rights you may have to claim those benefits and the Trustees will not be liable for any sums so applied to any person or persons of whose claims or demands they have not had notice. C. J. Sehmer, Chairman of the Trustees
