London Borough of Merton (Waiting & Loading Restrictions) (Amendment No.  ) Order 1998 (Bus stop clearway) (No.  ) Order 1998 (Bus lanes) (No. ) Order 1998, London Road, S.W.17. Notice is hereby given that the London Borough of Merton, after consulting the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, propose to make the above-mentioned Order under sections 6 and 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.   The general effect of the Order will be:   (a) to further amend the Merton (Waiting and Loading Restriction) Order 1977, so that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to wait in that length of London Road defined on the Schedule to this notice;   (b) to introduce bus stop clearway restrictions operating at any time in those lengths of London Road defined on the Schedule to this notice;   (c) to introduce a bus lane operating Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. in that length of London Road, western carriageway, from the northern kerb-line of Pitcairn Road northwards to a point 2 metres north-east of the party wall of Nos. 16-18 and 20 London Road.   Exemptions to (a) above are provided in the Order to permit vehicles to wait:   (a) to enable passengers to board or alight and to load or unload their personal luggage;   (b) for up to 20 minutes for the purpose of delivering and collecting goods or loading/unloading the vehicle at premises adjacent to the street;   (c) if they are being used to maintain the road or the services therein or by local authorities or the Post Office in pursuance to statutory powers and duties.   A copy of the draft Order, a plan identifying the area affected by the Order and the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order can be inspected during the Council’s normal office hours Mondays to Fridays until 27th February 1998 at the main reception, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey.   Any person desiring to object to the proposed Order should send a statement in writing of their objections and the grounds thereof to the Head of Legal Services (Ref. London Road, western kerb-line:   (a) From its junction with Pitcairn Road northwards to a point 2 metres south of the party wall of nos. 90-92 London Road.   (b) From a point 17 metres north of the party wall of nos. 90-92 London Road northwards to a point 11 metres north of its junction with Arnold Road.   (c) From a point 13 metres south of its junction with Finborough Road northwards to a point 27 metres south-west of the party wall of nos. 16-18 and 20 London Road.   (d) From a point 2 metres north-east of the party wall of 16-18 and 20 London Road north-eastwards to the Borough Boundary.   (e) From a point 11 metres north of its junction with Arnold Road northwards to a point 13 metres south of its junction with Finborough Road.
