POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2000

In accordance with Paragraph 4 of Schedule 7 to the above Regulations, notice is hereby given that application has been made to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for a variation to Permit PPC/E/20006 under regulation 13 of the Regulations by Glenrath Farms Ltd in respect of activities being carried out namely poultry rearing, in an installation at Millennium Farm, Cowieslinn, Eddleston, Tweeddale EH45 8QZ

The change in the operation proposed by the application is:

To permit the use of new poultry shed Millennium 6, required to provide more bird living space to meet new legislation requirements. In addition the application is to vary the permit to reflect existing and proposed bird population numbers.

The application may be inspected, free of charge, at SEPA Edinburgh Office, Heriot Watt Research Park, Avenue North, Riccarton, Edinburgh EH14 4AP, between 0930 hours and 1630 hours on working days. Please quote Reference No PPC/E/20006.

Please note that the application contains a description of the proposed change and a statement of any changes in respect to the following:

• The raw and auxiliary materials and other substances and energy to be used in, or generated by, the carrying out of the activities.

• The nature, quantities and source of foreseeable emissions from the installation into each environmental medium, and a description of any foreseeable significant effects of the emissions on the environment and on human health.

• The measures to be taken for the prevention and recovery of waste generated by the operation of the installation.

• Measures to taken to ensure that all appropriate preventive measures are taken against pollution in particular through the application of the best available techniques and to ensure that no significant pollution is caused.

• An indication of the Variation to the Permit that the Operator wishes SEPA to make.

Written representations concerning this application may be made to the SEPA at the above address, or sent to e-mail address consultee.responses@sepa.org.uk and if received within 28 days of this notice, will be taken into consideration in determining the application. Any such representations made by any person will be entered in a public register unless that person requests in writing that they should not be so entered. Where such a request is made there will be included in the register a statement indicating that representations have been made which has been the subject of such a request.
