POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2000

In accordance with paragraph 5 of Schedule 4 to the above Regulations, Notice is hereby given that application has been made to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for a Permit under Regulation 7 of the Regulations by Nestle UK Ltd in respect of activities being carried out, namely chocolate crumb manufacture at the installation at Grangestone Industrial Estate, Ladywell Avenue, Girvan, Ayrshire, KA26 9PL.

The application contains a description of any foreseeable significant effects of emissions from the installation on the environment.

The application may be inspected, free of charge, at SEPA, 5 Redwood Crescent, Peel Park, East Kilbride, G74 5PP between 0930 and 1630 on working days. Please quote Reference Number PPC/A/1034906.

Please note that the application contains details of:

•   A site report describing the condition of the site,

•   A description of the installation and any directly associated activities

•   A description of the activities carried out,

•   The raw and auxiliary materials and other substances and energy to be used in, or generated by, the carrying out of the activity,

•   The nature, quantities and source of foreseeable emissions from the installation into each environmental medium, and a description of any foreseeable significant effects of the emissions on the environment and human health,

•  The proposed technology and other techniques for preventing or where that is not practicable reducing and rendering harmless emissions from the installation,

•  How the best available techniques are adopted to the operation of the installation,

•  The proposed measures to be taken to monitor emissions,

•  A description of the measures to be taken for the prevention and recovery of waste generated by the operation of the installation,

•  A description of any proposed additional measures to be taken to ensure that all appropriate preventive measures are taken against pollution in particular through the application of the best available techniques and to ensure that no significant pollution is caused,

•  Written confirmation that the plant is covered by a Climate Change Agreement and the terms of that agreement in so far as they relate to the installation,

•  An outline of the main alternatives if any studied

•  A non-technical summary of the information referred to above

•  Other information which the applicant may wish SEPA to take into account.

Written representation concerning this application may be made to the SEPA at the above address, or sent to e-mail address: registryeastkilbride@sepa.org.uk and if received within 28 days of this Notice, will be taken into consideration in determining the application. Any such representation made by any person will be entered in a public register unless that person requests in writing that they should not be so entered. Where such a request is made there will be include in the register a statement indicating that representations have been made which has been the subject of such a request.
