THE A96 TRUNK ROAD (ELGIN) (30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 200

THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS give notice that they propose to make the above Order under sections 84(1)(a) and 124(1)(d) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to reduce the existing 40mph speed limit by imposing a 30mph speed limit on that length of the A96 Trunk Road from a point 108.8 metres or thereby west of its junction with Wittet Drive eastwards to a point 50 metres or thereby east of its junction with Pinefield Parade, a distance of 2.98 kilometres or thereby.

The Perth – Aberdeen – Inverness Trunk Road (Route A96) (Elgin Relief Road) (40 mph Speed Limit) Order 1981, the Perth – Aberdeen – Inverness Trunk Road (Route A96) (Elgin Relief Road) (40 mph Speed Limit) (Variation) Order 1997 and the Perth – Aberdeen – Inverness Trunk Road (Route A96) (Elgin) (Restricted Roads) Order 1981 are all revoked by this Order.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the Order a copy of which, together with a plan showing the length of road involved, copies of the existing Orders to be revoked and a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined free of charge during normal business hours from 27th February 2009 until 3rd April 2009 at Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow G4 0HF and Access Point, The Moray Council, Council Offices, High Street, Elgin IV30 1BX.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds for objection in writing to The Chief Roads Engineer, c/o Michael McCormack, Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow G4 0HF, quoting reference A96/MMC001 by 3rd April 2009.
