Planning application for the erection of 13 wind turbines, 55 metres high to tower hub and up to 90 metres high to maximum blade tip extension, construction of access tracks, formation of site access on to the public road, erection of switch room building and compound, erection of a permanent 55 metre on-site anemometry mast, installation of underground on-site cabling, and erection of temporary construction compound and welfare facilities at Mains of Durran, Castletown, Caithness. The Highland Council has received a planning application accompanied by an Environmental Statement for the construction of thirteen wind generators with associated access tracks, substation and ancillary works and equipment at Mains of Durran, Castletown, Caithness.

The applicants are SSE Generations Ltd, Inveralmond House, 200 Dunkeld Road, Perth, PH1 3AQ.

The application is advertised as a potential bad neighbour and as a potential Departure from the Development Plan as well as an application accompanied by an Environmental Statement.

Any person wishing to make representations to the Highland Council should make them in writing to the Director of Planning and Development, Highland Council, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX within a period of 28 days beginning with the date of the publication of this notice on the 19 September 2008. For the avoidance of doubt the 28 day period for making representations shall end at the close of business on 17 October 2008.
