THE A68 TRUNK ROAD (DALKEITH) (30 MPH SPEED LIMIT AND ST DAVID’S PRIMARY SCHOOL PART-TIME 20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 200[ ]

THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS hereby give notice that they propose to make the above Order under sections 82(2)(a), 83(1), 84(1)(a) and (c) and 124(1)(d) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing a 30 mph speed limit on the following length of road:

1. That length of the A68 Edinburgh – Carter Bar Trunk Road at Dalkeith from a point 168 metres or thereby west of its junction with Lugton Brae at the Lugton Inn to a point 247 metres or thereby southeast of its junction with the B6482 Easthouses Road, a distance of 2.218 kilometres or thereby, and

a part-time 20 mph speed limit on the following length of road:

2. That length of the A68 Edinburgh – Carter Bar Trunk Road at Dalkeith from a point 202 metres or thereby southeast of the centre line of the junction with Bruce Gardens to a point 157 metres or thereby northwest of the centre line of the junction with Easthouses Road, a distance of 276 metres or thereby.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the Order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road involved, copies of the existing Orders to be revoked and a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined free of charge during normal business hours from 5th September 2008 until 10th October 2008 at the offices of Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow G4 0HF, BEAR Scotland Ltd, 6a Dryden Road, Bilston Glen, Loanhead, Midlothian EH20 9TY and at Midlothian Council, Midlothian House, Buccleuch Street, Dalkeith EH22 1DN.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds for objection in writing to the Chief Roads Engineer c/o Michael McCormack, 8th Floor, Transport Scotland, Buchanan House, 58 Port Dundas Road, Glasgow G4 0HF quoting reference A68/MMC/ SDP by 10th October 2008.
