FLOOD PREVENTION (SCOTLAND) ACT 1961
SALTCOATS FLOOD PREVENTION SCHEME 2006
North Ayrshire Council hereby give notice under paragraph 2 of the Second Schedule to the above Act, that they propose to carry out flood prevention work in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 4 of the above Act, as described herein at Saltcoats, North Ayrshire.
This work will include the construction of two rock armour breakwaters in the harbour, rock structures in the boating pond area at the south end of South Bay, repairs to the sea walls within the harbour and at the southern end of South Bay, flood defences to the boundary of the Braes Road car park and improvements to the car park drainage. The purpose of these works is to mitigate the flooding of Saltcoats town centre and seafront properties by wave overtopping of the existing sea walls.
Any person may inspect a copy of the scheme and the relevant plans free of charge at all reasonable hours at Saltcoats Public Library, Springvale Place, Saltcoats KA21 5LS, Saltcoats Area Office, 27 Vernon Street, Saltcoats KA21 5HE and at North Ayrshire Museum, Manse Street, Saltcoats KA21 5AA, during a period of three months from the first publication of this notice.
Any person may, within a period of three months of the first publication of this notice, serve a written notice of objection to the above proposal to the Scottish Ministers at the Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department, Climate Change and Air Division, Flooding, Erosion and Reservoirs Team, Room 1G (North), Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6QQ.
