NOTICE OF INTENTION TO DESIGNATE SMOKE CONTROL AREA IN BONHILL, JAMESTOWN AND BALLOCH

Notice is hereby given that West Dunbartonshire Council intends to make a Smoke Control Order in terms of the Clean Air Act 1993 (the “Bonhill, Jamestown and Balloch Smoke Control Area Order 2005”), which will take effect in relation to those parts of Bonhill, Jamestown and Balloch not at present covered by such an Order.

The general effect of the Order will be that no fuels other than authorised smokeless fuels will be permitted to be burned within the designated area. Contravention of the Order will be an offence liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale.

A copy of the proposed Order, together with the Ordnance Survey Map showing the extent of the area it will cover, are available for inspection at the Council’s Offices at Garshake Road, Dumbarton (Third Floor, Planning Department), Rosebery Place, Clydebank (Third Floor, Environmental Services) and Mitchell Way, Alexandria (Area Housing Office). These documents may be inspected by any person free of charge during normal office hours until 1 May 2005.

Any person who will be affected by the Order and who wishes to object to the making of it may do so by notifying West Dunbartonshire Council in writing, at the address given below, prior to 1 May 2005.
