Appointment of Procurator Fiscal of
the Lyon Court

Scottish Ministers have appointed Mr George Way of Plean SSC to be Procurator Fiscal of the Lyon Court in succession to Mr Ian Macleod who retired last year.

Mr Way, (47 on 22nd May 2003) is senior partner of Beveridge and Kellas SSC. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and a member of the Heraldry Society of Scotland. He has practised in the Court of the Lord Lyon for over 20 years. Mr Way is the author of several publications including the Collins Scottish Clan and Family Encyclopaedia and Scottish Clans and Tartans. He has also published several articles on Heraldry and the Laws of Arms etc in various periodicals.

Mr Way’s Commission from Ministers has now been issued and his appointment has already taken effect. He is eligible to remain in post until the age of 65 when he must retire.
