DEPARTMENT FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
LICENSING (REQUIREMENTS FOR CONFERENCE CENTRE (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2012

The Department for Social Development has made a Statutory Rule entitled The “Licensing (Requirements for Conference Centre) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012” (S.R. 2012 No.249) which comes into operation on 1st September 2012.

The Rule amends the Licensing (Requirements for Conference Centre) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997, which set out the conditions to which premises must conform before they may be awarded a certificate by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board for the purpose of securing a licence for the sale by retail of intoxicating liquor. It replaces the requirement that a conference centre must have a fire certificate issued by the Fire Authority for Northern Ireland (now known as the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service), or a letter from an authorised member of the fire brigade in relation to the adequacy of the fire safety measures in the premises with a requirement that it has an assessment pursuant to the provisions of Articles 25 and 26 of The Fire and Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006.

Copies of the Rule may be purchased from the Stationery Office at www.tsoshop.co.uk or by contacting the TSO Customer Services on 0870 600 5522 or viewed online at http://www.legislation.gov.uk/nisr.
