The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (2007 Order) (Commencement No. 5, Transitional Provisions and Savings) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009
The Northern Ireland Office has made a Statutory Rule entitled The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (2007 Order) (Commencement No. 5, Transitional Provisions and Savings) Order (Northern Ireland) 2009 on 12th October 2009.
This Order brings into operation provisions within 2007 Order required to support the introduction of new definitions of work with children and vulnerable adults, defined in the 2007 Order as “regulated” and “controlled” activity.
It also commences provisions required to give effect to the full range of barring provisions as they relate to regulated and controlled activity.
Transitional and savings provisions are also being made to support continuation of existing barring regimes until all individuals are migrated from existing barred lists to the new barred lists held by the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).
This is the fifth Commencement Order made under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007.
