Police and Criminal Evidence (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 (Commencement) Order 2009

The Secretary of State has made the Police and Criminal Evidence (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 (Commencement) Order 2009 in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(3) of the Police and Criminal Evidence (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007.

This Order brings into operation, from 1st November 2009, Articles 18 and 25(2) of the Police and Criminal Evidence (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 which amend Articles 38 and 53 of the Police and Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1989 to change the definition of an arrested juvenile under PACE from anyone under the age of 17 years to anyone under the age of 18 years.
