The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Prescribed Criteria and Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009

The Northern Ireland Office has made a Statutory Rule entitled The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Prescribed Criteria and Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 on 6th February 2009.

These Regulations are made under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 and are part of the second phase of secondary legislation that will enable the Independent Barring Board (IBB) to start making barring decisions on new referrals. These decisions were previously made by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety and the Department of Education.

The Regulations specify the criteria which determine whether a person should be included automatically (either with or without the right to make representations) in the children’s barred list or the adults’ barred list maintained by the IBB.
