Coleraine Borough Houses in Multiple Occupation Subject Plan 2016

- Notice of Intention to Prepare a Subject Plan

The Planning Service, an Agency within the Department of the Environment, intends to prepare a Subject Plan under the provisions of Part III of the Planning (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 relating to Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) for Coleraine Borough Council Area.

The Coleraine Borough HMOs Subject Plan 2016 is to be prepared in addition to the ongoing Northern Area Plan 2016, which was published in draft form in May 2005. It will be prepared within the context of the Regional Development Strategy and will inform the general public, statutory authorities, developers and other interested bodies of the policy framework and proposals that will be used to guide development decisions relating to HMOs in Coleraine Borough Council area.

The Department will consult with Coleraine Borough Council, Government Departments, statutory undertakers, other appropriate bodies and interested parties in the preparation of the Subject Plan. It also intends to publish an Issues Paper, in April 2006, which will help to guide and encourage debate and discussion focused on issues of relevance to the Plan. A further press notice in regard to the availability of the Issues Paper will follow.

The Department wishes to ensure that members of the public have the opportunity to participate in the plan making process by contributing to the consideration of the key issues in relation to the planning control of HMOs within the Coleraine Borough Council area.

Accordingly, following publication of the Issues Paper, there will be a 14 week period, starting with the date of publication, within which representations on key issues can be submitted in writing to the address below.

It should be noted that all representations received will be available for public inspection during the plan preparation process.
